The Barbados Environment Conservation Trust is a Registered Charity established in 2019. Our vision is that through supporting local initiatives aimed at environmental sustainability, Barbados will attain its targets in national development.

A Steering Committee (SC), comprising of founding and actively involved donors, directs the strategy. They analyse and approve grants and use their personal networks to broaden the base of supporters. The SC members have a wide array of backgrounds and interests but all share a passion for the environmental protection of Barbados.
Our local team consists of one person as the local Executive Director in charge of day-to-day management and coordination work on the ground, assisted by advisors and the SC.
And of course, we are eternally grateful to our supporters for their contribution to the BECT by way of financial donation and/or time!
Tamaisha is Guyanese and grew up in Jamaica, India and Canada but flies the CARICOM flag high. Tamaisha has worked in development and the nonprofit sector, around the world, for the last 10 years. She holds a Masters Degree in Integration Studies from the University of the West Indies, Cavehill Campus and Bachelors degree in International Studies from Glendon College, York University Canada.
Her diversity in skills in communications, logistics and project management has allowed her to work in a variety of areas ranging from immigration policy, to civic tech and corporate governance and with several organizations including the United Nations Development programme. A proud alumni of a United World College, Tamaisha attributes her inspiration as an agent of change to a few things: her vivacious personality; her parents; and her passion to share her dynamic experiences with others. She believes in paying it forward, and the ripple effect- sharing your message and creating opportunities for others. She believes in taking risks and not being afraid to take action.
We strongly believe that supporting local resources can make a strong positive impact and bring about serious long-lasting change!
To do so, we raise money from people all over the world, as well as from local individuals and businesses that care and rely on the future of Barbados. We ensure funds are directed appropriately and are dedicated to supporting the most effective environmental projects and campaigns. We support organizations, experts, individuals and associations already present in Barbados, who are working to protect and restore the natural environment and trying to influence both policy and practice.
Our funding is flexible, independent and long term.
