Call for Proposals: Projects Tackling Plastic Pollution
We are thrilled to announce that we’re now accepting proposals for projects tackling plastic pollution at the source across Barbados.
Barbados Environmental Conservation Trust (BECT) supports locally-led environmental initiatives to protect and restore natural ecosystems in Barbados now and for the future.
Empowering Local Efforts Tackling Plastic Pollution
We are seeking proposals from local non-profit organisations, associations or clubs , social cooperative enterprises and/or other local bodies, including research centres, to apply. Projects must have an innovative and impactful approach to tackling plastic pollution with potential for long term value to the circular economy. Whether you have a groundbreaking idea, an ongoing project, or are requesting continued funding, we want to hear from you!
Grant funding will vary based on the scope and type of project. We encourage applicants to submit full proposals.
Project Categories:
- Plastic Free – Removing plastic from business operations and natural environments, and proposing alternatives.
- Community-led Waste Management Initiatives – Including collection, processing, recycling, upcycling.
- Clean Ups – Must have a long-term change element related to education, training and community engagement.
We’re Interested In:
- Flagship Programmes – Established projects with proven track record and environmental/ social impact for more than 5 years.
- Scaling-up Programmes – Existing projects, between 2 to 5 years, with capacity and need for growth.
- Kick-starting Programmes – Pilot projects of less than 2 years with potential long-term value.
